Cancer is a formidable disease and the cause of 5 lakh deaths in India each year. The disease subject's patients to pain and suffering, and only a miniscule of our population can afford good medical care.
Realizing the gamut of this deadly disease, Shobiz Cares welcomed the opportunity to partner EMC, an IT products and services provider; the Global Cancer Concern India (GCCI), an NGO that supports cancer patients and Temple of Inner Wisdom, a spiritual organization in the Fight Against Cancer initiative for the benefit of cancer patients and their families.
The Fight Against Cancer initiative was a collaborated effort that took place on October 16, 2011 at the NCUI Auditorium in New Delhi to raise funds and spread awareness about cancer through a live concert. The funds raised through this event were donated to GCCI.
The evening comprised a meditation session, a dance act by Aasma Dance Troupe and a performance by Astitva. Prior to the event, various pre-event activities were conducted to create hype, including EMC and Shobiz Cares celebrating Pink Day on October 14, 2011, spreading awareness about the event on social networking websites, distributing cancer awareness brooches and more.
Shobiz Cares believes in the pleasure of giving, and if that's a gift to save a life it becomes even more meaningful. The event not only managed to raise funds for cancer patients and their families but also helped bring visibility and awareness towards the cause.
"Our aim is to address cancer patients with palliative care, both at home and in institutions, to relieve them of their pain and suffering and enable them to live, as long as possible, with dignity,"
